Application Dates Announced for MSF 2014!

The 2013 Madison Street Festival had a new footprint last year and we have Madison United Methodist Church, Cornerstone Word of Life Church, Larry and Walt Anderson, Dennis Vaughn, The Glass Company and the North Alabama Gas District to thank for the generous loan of their beautiful, shady and spacious properties!

The layout for the 2013 festival proved to be a huge success with record crowds of over 20,000 enjoying Food on Main St., which included the First Commercial Family Café, Information Vendors and the BB&T Gazebo Entertainment Stage on Front St., the Brook Information Booth, Redstone Federal Credit Union’s Student Art Tent, Madison Hospital’s Children’s Area, Happy Tails Petting Zoo, and North AL Gas Pony Rides were all on Church St.

Millar Chiropractic Artist Alley was in Dennis Vaughn’s beautiful backyard with the Alabama Pediatric Dental Expo Area in the Madison Methodist parking lot on Church St. Around the corner on Maple St., Arts and Crafts found a shady spot on Madison Methodist’s beautiful lawn, the Verizon Entertainment Stage and Vets with Vets Car and Bike Show spread out on Cornerstone’s grassy and very spacious grounds.

The mission of the Madison Street Festival is to provide a day of family entertainment that unites the community as they enjoy arts and culture, interactive exhibits, and entertainment.

Proceeds from the festival are reinvested back into our community by awarding grants to Madison based nonprofit groups who provide educational opportunities, increase literacy, or provide community improvement projects to the City of Madison and our residents:

The 2013 MSF is proud to have issued grants to the -
James Clemens High School Theatre Program in the amount of $1000
$1,000 to Madison Public Library
$1,500 to the Madison Young Marines
$600 to Rainbow Elementary Multicultural Fair
And $600 to Rainbow Elementary Spring Forward program

In addition the Madison Street Festival annually provides a $1,000 scholarship each to a deserving student from Bob Jones and James Clemens High Schools who will be attending a Technical or Trade School.

We are excited to announce that the 2014 Madison Street Festival will be held on Saturday, October 4th kicking off with the Parade at 9:00. We are so pleased to announce that this year’s MSF Grand Marshals will be all of our former mayors. Burwell Wilbanks, Don Spencer, Ann vanLeeuwen, Chuck Yancura, Jan Wells, Sandy Kirkindall and Paul Finley will all be on hand to launch the 2014 Street Festival into high gear!

On Line registration for the 2014 Madison Street Festival will open on April 15 and close on August 15. Again, all registration is date and time stamped, first come/first served. We will continue our policy of 2 per each type of Information Vendor; as while the festival has grown considerably by attendees and we are fortunate to have downtown home and business owners support us by their generous loan of real estate, we are still very limited by space and what an all volunteer committee can handle logistically.

The Madison Street Festival wouldn’t be a festival without the support of our city, our sponsors, the talented artists, arts and craftsmen, exhibitors, information and food vendors, our volunteers and our festival visitors. We thank you all.

Hope to see you all the 1st Saturday in October in beautiful, historic downtown Madison!
